Love in the Cereal Aisle

You stood there next to that red-head with your black tank top, blue jeans, and black sneakers; and I stood there ten feet away with my hand on my mouth for fear of wanting to scream out your name, with my hand on my heart trying to keep it from popping out and killing the person it belonged to.

You were startled, and I tried to swat away at the cartoon-like tiny pink hearts that flew overhead with white wings.

Howie Day's song "Collide" kept ringing in my ear and I couldn't help but imagine me walking down the aisle towards the new reformed you, with your big smile and those dimples that seem to light up a room.

You weren't sure why I wasn't smiling when I saw you in the next aisle, but I was too busy pinching myself to see if this was true to even notice that you were waving at me. You did a 'typical you' thing and used the cans you were holding as if they were miniature dumbells.

"Come on, honey, work those arms", I was actually thinking that. I broke first and had to start laughing. Why didn't we do like they had in 'The Notebook', and I could've ran into your arms and we would've kissed right there in the cereal aisle.

Why do I have a feeling we will be seeing each other again very soon?
